VIMÖ, Plattform Intersex, the Vienna Anti-Discrimination Agency and partners are organizing “Inter*Tagung Wien”, in Vienna, Austria from 6 to 8 November.
Intersex is still a taboo subject in Austria. The association of intersex people Austria (VIMÖ) and Platform Intersex Austria (PIÖ) therefore organizing the first Inter* Meeting Vienna on the occasion of Intersex Day of Solidarity, in cooperation with the Vienna Anti-Discrimination Agency (WASt) and queer connexion. The conference aims to contribute to the visibility of intersex people, tackle taboos and present lived realities. The aim is also to promote dialogue between interest groups, intersex people, science and policy-makers.
Some workshops will take place in German, while others will take place in English. Speakers include Ursula Rosen (XY-Frauen), Hida Viloria (OII-USA), Del LaGrace Volcano (Intersex Scandinavia), Dan Christian Ghattas (OII Europe), and a number of folk from VIMÖ and PIÖ: Alex Jürgen, Gabriele Rothuber, Gorji Marzban, Tobias Humer, Eva Matt, Marija Petricevic, and Martina Enzendorfer. The event also includes a party and a screening of the movie Intersexion.
