Workshop on intersex activism, Buenos Aires

Justicia Intersex
On Wednesday 26 October, Mauro Cabral Grinspan and Justicia Intersex invite people to celebrate intersex visibility with an afternoon workshop on intersex activism.

Intersex people are born with sex characteristics (chromosomes, gonads, genitals…) that vary from typical male or female norms.

We are said to have two sexes, and so we are a third sex, or we have no have sex. It is said that it is necessary to mutilate us to ensure our happiness. It is also said that genital numbness, chronic pain and infertility are acceptable prices for the love of others.

Many people spend hours, days, weeks, months and years to talk about how to mark our gender registration box, without giving even a minute to register the marks of horror inscribed on the body.

Where the same people see just men and women, a train passing, two trees, the sun comes out, a girls holding hands, a puddle, time passing, friendships, white overalls, moon, fly in the soup or the diary page, we see a world made of cut meat, stitched and scarred.

October 26 is the international Intersex Awareness Day.

Where: La Commune, Zavaleta 74, Parque Patricios, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
