On 28 October, the Intersex Initiative held an Intersex Film Night, with screenings of “Hermaphrodites Speak!”, “XXXY”, “Mani’s Story” and “Born Queer: Dear Doctors”.
On 19 October, the Board and Supervisors of the City and County of San Francisco formally recognised 26 October 2004 as the first annual Intersex Awareness Day.
On 25 October 2004, the Intersex Initiative reported that Boulder County Public Health became the first public agency to recognise Intersex Awareness Day.
